The Fourth of July is the day when the most number of pets go missing, and–just in time–the ASPCA has launched their first interactive mobile app for pet owners.
The app will allow pet owners to build a digital lost pet flyer that can be shared instantly on social networks, quickly getting the pet's information to as many people as possible. This will greatly increase the chances that the pet will be found.
The app also provides information about how to search for your missing pet, customized to your specific circumstance and your pet's personality. For example, a friendly pet is most likely to be picked up by a good samaritan, so the app will advise the pet owner to check with shelters and vets that the pet could have been taken to. A fearful pet would be more likely to hide and run from unknown people, so the app may suggest the pet owner hit the streets and ask for sightings.
The ASPCA app will also provide advice on pet safety before, during, and after a storm or other natural disaster. Pets are often only thought of after they go missing during a traumatic time, but preparedness can help pet owners ensure their pets are safe and sound.
Pet owners will also be able to store all of their pet's medical information such as vaccination history and dietary information, which can be valuable for vet visits or in case of emergency.
